  2. Curiosity Driven Courage

  3. Mistakes Are Signs Of Learning

  4. Build A Support System / Community

  5. Use Your Body To Strengthen Your Mind

  6. Milestones And Documentation

Small And Practicable Steps

  • Actively say hi or smile to a stranger or someone you know (could include online)

  • Actively make a new friend, just be brave to start a conversation

  • Ask at least one question in any meeting, dumb questions are fine

  • Try a small new thing

  • Send a status that make you slightly nervous that expresses your true feelings or achievements

Courage is not having no fear, but the ability to act despite fear.

You can document them about your courage and feelings, including your failures. You will realize that most fears are easier to overcome than you think.

Curiosity Driven Courage

  • Realize that questions are for exploration and learning (for yourself). When you are afraid to ask, think that “I want to understand this more!” or “I’m curious about this!”, “I wonder what your experience can teach me?”

The point is to learn, we all have different experiences and knowledge, know something others don’t, and vice versa.

  • Actively engage in unknown fields

    • Read an article from a foreign field every week

    • Join an interest group or community that you have no experience in

    • Try to use a completely new way to complete a task

Mistakes Are Signs Of Learning

  • Make use of a ‘safe failure’ environment

    • Simulate / case on what things are likely to go wrong

    • Imagine what is the worst case scenario, and the best case scenario

    • You will realize that things are not that scary, and you can adjust your impression and get used to it

  • Growth Oriented

    • Ask yourself what this experience have taught me, give yourself some award and encouragement
  • Encourage yourself even if failure

    • If you have done something that makes you afraid before, it should be awarded no matter what the result is. It is so great that you have tried!

    • Make them shareable jokes instead of shameful regrets

Build A Support System / Community

  • Find 1~2 people who are willing to join your challenge, improve and supervise each other together

    • Share your courage plan / moment

    • help each other to overcome fear

  • Start from simple communications

    • Actively reply to messages on online communities or emails

    • Join interest groups that require simple communication

Use Your Body To Strengthen Your Mind

  • Fake It Till You Make It

    • Even you fell not confident, adjusting your posture and tone can improve your inner confidence.

      • Do a ‘super-hero’ pose for 2 minutes before a challenge

      • Use a determined mind to reply yourself “I allow myself to try and I’m ready to accept all outcomes”

  • Exercise and adventure

Some body exercises and small challenges will silently enhance your mental resilience

    • Climb stairs instead of taking the elevator

    • Hiking

    • Try a new sport or exercise

Milestones And Documentation

  • Give yourself small rewards when you complete a small challenge / milestone

    • Purchase a course you have been wanting to learn

    • Watch an exciting movie / anime

    • Share your progress on social media

  • Document your progress

    • Every day or week, document:

      • What I did to challenge my courage today / this week?

      • What experience did it bring me?

      • What are the things I’m still afraid of? and why?

    • Record your progress, this helps you gain confidence and motivation

      • What is my biggest courage challenge this week / month?

      • What did I learn from this challenge?

Remarks

  • Every trial is an extension to yourself
